Isn't it ironic
Dec. 17th, 2018 01:23 pmI posted this today on my FB fannish group's site, along with this piece of artwork with the blatant NSFW coverup in the explicit area. Right after it went up I got a 24 hour ban from the FB Nazi bot, ha. I have posted much worse on FB - just plain ole' porn pics and art - and never got any flags. Now that I post a serious piece about the Tumblr purge I get slapped.
Apparently the Tumblr protest is going to take further actions if the terms of service against NSFW continue. Many artists now have their entire blog blocked, or gone. I'm not logged in today in protest.
I read this today:
"But a small number of users being away from the platform for 24 hours is not the biggest problem for Tumblr at the moment, as the impact on annual ad revenues would be small. A much bigger problem is bloggers and other content creators leaving the platform to join other sites.
However, the protesters are not going to stop there. If the Log Off Protest fails to get desired results, they will launch a mass emailing and mass tweeting campaign to Tumblr and its CEO. If the company still doesn’t listen, the protesters will log out of the service for a full week.
If nothing happens after all the efforts, the protesting users will ditch Tumblr forever, as thousands of bloggers have already done. Sites such as Pillowfort, Newgrounds, Sharesome, Ghost, and Pornhub have been aggressively pitching themselves as the best Tumblr alternatives to attract people leaving Tumblr."
I am waiting to see the results and will participate in any protect events that come up. My opinion is that Verizon will do nothing to change the ToS at Tumblr, and at that point I will delete my account. I will not support an organization that is blatantly discriminating against queer communities - because that is what this is all about.
I used to be able to enjoy explicit erotic artwork at Tumblr, like the one below, now it's banned. I'm now on Pillowfort, Dreamwidth and Twitter which does allow NSFW artwork.
